Against Breast Cancer’s research is studying new ways that could help doctors identify and treat the aggressive spread of breast cancer earlier, faster and more effectively
- Biochemists are investigating why the cancer cells spread to other parts of the body (this is known as ‘secondary spread’) and how this can be prevented. The aim of this strand of the research is to develop a simple blood test to screen for these destructive cells and enable treatment to begin earlier
- Data collected in a Diet & Lifestyle Study is helping to provide evidence on which to base recommendations for dietary and lifestyle practices that will improve breast cancer survival. Preliminary results of this study are due at the end of 2012 and will be of global interest
